The one most often seen is probably the flat weight bench. As the name suggests, the flat bench is simply a long, narrow bench. This type of bench is appropriate for exercises such as the bench press and dumbbell press. The type of bench helpful for exercises such as the shoulder press is the vertical bench. It helps the person exercising keep the correct position by providing enough back support. Composed of two main pieces it resembles a chair. The best bench for people who are seeking to increase the development of the lower chest muscles is the decline bench. This is probably the least well-known kind but is ideal in some situations. As the name strongly suggests the decline bench is a weight bench that is angled slightly downwards so that the lower half of your body is slightly above the upper part.
As it is with a lot of outdoor furniture, wooden benches are the most popular of garden and backyard benches. The most common woods for these benches are cedar, teak, pine, and cypress. Most of these garden and outdoor benches are very easily maintained, especially when made from cedar and teak. Cypress is similar to teak and cedar which also makes it very popular. All three of these woods are known for their durability and natural oils that help to keep the wood looking younger for longer. These oils also repel insects and protect from warping, rotting, or decay. These natural oils also keep insects at bay which can be positively wonderful in a garden or anywhere else in the great outdoors. These benches are also made of plastics, which also have their desirable qualities. Recycled plastic benches are virtually maintenance free and just as strong and durable as the wooden benches, which are great qualities for any occasion. These styles of benches also come in a variety of style and colors. The metal made benches are probably the least popular in the world of benches.
Garden benches can be a great addition to any yard as they will give you a place to sit and relax and look over your garden. Here are a few tips for what to look for when purchasing a garden bench. o Look at the bench material - Many Garden benches are made of wood and you must know what type of wood as they do not all last the same amount of time or look the same. Pine wood looks great but it will not last a long time. Some of the better woods for benches are cedar, redwood or cypress. Teak is one of the better choices for wood as it lasts a long time and has a great silvery shine over time. But teak is also one of the more expensive woods. Metal benches and concrete benches are more durable, especially to the elements, but they are also not as comfortable as wooden benches.
Also take a look at how the bench is put together. Higher quality benches will have joints that are welded together rather than screwed or bolted. These welds will also be located in very inconspicuous places if the bench is well made. For wood benches, look for one that comes in very few pieces. Try to get a feel for the joints although judging joints on a wood piece is a bit more difficult because it can be hard to see the quality construction. Try sitting on the bench and moving around a little bit. If the bench does not wiggle or creak, then there is a good chance that it is of high quality. For upholstered bench tops, look at how the cushion is attached to the bench. A cushion that is loose or looks like it is about to come loose will not do. The best choice is a cushion that is attached to the top of the bench and cannot be removed. Cushions that are attached with ties are usually not a good choice for a vanity bench. Also remember to look for cushions made of a material that is easy to wipe off and clean.
Remember that outdoor benches will still show some age, even if you apply protectant year after year, so expect a little bit of color change, no matter what kind of steps you are taking to protect the bench. Weathered Teak Of course many people really enjoy the look of weathered teak, so many of these steps will not be necessary if you prefer to enjoy the grey teak. It takes several months for teak to fade from its original light brown color into grey, although this may happen a bit sooner if the bench is an outdoor bench. Just remember that teak will always be durable and resist splitting, even after it begins to have that beautiful grey weathered look.
