Sideboards and dressers were extremely popular in the 1970s, but lost their appeal in later years. However, they have recently been making a come-back and are now seen as stylish, must-have pieces of furniture for the dining room. A dresser is a tall piece of furniture, which usually has a base which has cupboards or drawers, whilst the top section has shelves where you can display your crockery. A sideboard is a piece of furniture which has drawers, cupboards or compartments in which you can store your tableware, and has a flat surface like a table. However, you can also often buy a matching top unit to place on top of the sideboard, making it look like a dresser.
The popular sideboard examples include the likes of contemporary lacquered sideboard MAX Paolo Piva, contemporary lacquered sideboard LINK by Carlo Colombo, Contemporary Lacquered sideboard ALL by Bartoli and many others. They all have amazing features which are meant to accommodate customers needs. Some are designed elegantly while others inherit a traditional look which blends quite well. So whether you are attracted to the traditional look or the modern look, dont worry because your needs will be met by the available sideboards in the market.
The beauty of natural wood is something we all should have in our homes and with oak, you get just that. Something can be beautiful to look at and be very practical to have, and oak sideboards are certainly that rare combination. If you want the full entertaining dining experience then a matching table, chairs and sideboard are a must. For those wine connoisseurs out there you can even get sideboards with built in wine racks, how cool would that look and how impressed would your guests be! You dont have to match your table to your sideboard or vice versa as mixing and matching styles and colours of wood can work equally well.
Where Can You Get a Solid Oak Sideboard? Visiting your local furniture store would be the first point of call when thinking of buying this furniture, as to see them in a picture online may not be doing them any real justice. You really need to see them in the flesh so to speak to appreciate them fully. Seeing them in an online catalogue is not the same as seeing them in a showroom, you cant get the real shape and feel of this magnificent furniture from a picture. Prices can vary and it depends on the thickness and quality of the oak. Unlike cheaper versions of the sideboard, oak sideboards can stand the rough and tumble of everyday use, some antique sideboards are still being put to every day use today even though they were manufactured over a 100 years ago. Scratches and blemishes can easily be sanded out to restore them to their original condition.
Contemporary console tables can be functional, decorative or a mixture of the two. Modern sideboards have the advantage of narrow designs, so they can be put in a hallway or foyer without cramping the space. Contemporary sideboards usually feature drawers and doors or shelves to hold linens, dishes, china or other decorations. In addition to the shelves, the table top makes a great display area for decorative items. Its a great way to accentuate and personalize a room. Display Cases Contemporary console tables usually are totally open or have glass doors. These can serve many purposes. Shelves can be great for china, photographs, books and travel souvenirs. Modern sideboards that have glass doors have the advantage of being dust free and easy to keep clean, though youll want to wipe down the glass every now and then. Some contemporary sideboards have no glass, which has the advantage of making the contents easy to view and access. Choose a display style that fits your decoration.
